The trio of the Heartless Bastards elevate to new heights with their newest album, The Mountain. With a distinctive, deep, and loose delivery Erika Wennerstrom offers something different on this album from her Ohio-born garage-rock outfit.
Stepping away from their expected blues-rock sound from 2005, Wennerstrom offers us fellow bastards some simple, yet confident guitar work surrounded by tight rhythms with some interesting angles and textures. Each track on The Mountain scales up and brings listeners back down, leaving them to find their footing as they descend from elevated heights and changing musical plateaus.
