In 1991 U2 put out the album that solidified their leap to major rock stardom. Now 20 years later the Irish rock band is releasing an all encompassing collection to commemorate the anniversary.
On October 31st The Achtung Baby anniversary edition is set to drop in massive fashion. According to the U2 website This set will be available in five different packages, ranging from a reissue of the original album itself with no bonus material to a massive, absurdly inclusive "Uber Deluxe Edition", which features all the bonus material that anyone could possibly want.
The "Uber Deluxe Edition" includes six CDs, including the original album, the 1993 follow-up Zooropa, previously unreleased recordings from the Achtung Baby sessions, B-sides, remixes, demos, and early versions of the tracks. The set also includes four DVDs, including Zoo TV: Live From Sydney, all the music videos from the album, bonus material, and the brand new documentary film From the Sky Down. Other stuff in the "Uber Deluxe Edition" set includes Five clear-vinyl 7" singles, 16 art prints, an 84-page hardback book, a magazine, four badges, a sticker sheet, and a pair of the "Fly" sunglasses that Bono always wore at the time. Other editions of the Achtung Baby box set include some but not all of that bonus material; more info on all the different bundles can be found at U2's site.
From the Sky Down is a new documentary about Achtung Baby and was directed by the director of films like An Inconvenient Truth and Waiting for Superman, Davis Guggenheim. From the Sky Down features U2's return to Hansa Studio in Berlin where Achtung Baby was recorded.
This should be quite the set and something that your rock & Roll loving friends will be mad jealous of you for having.
