Beach Boys To Drop SMiLE Sessions

Beach Boys To Drop SMiLE Sessions

In the mid to late sixties The Beach Boys were influencing everybody in popular music including The Beatles. No recording session from the sixties is more legendary than The Beach Boys' SMiLE sessions from which an album was never released. That is until now as The Beach Boys will finally release the lost 1966-67 SMiLE sessions.

These recordings will be released on October 31 internationally and November 1 in the US by Capitol/EMI and will be available in several formats including a 2xCD and 2xLP, digital album, iTunes LP, and a giant box set. The SMiLE Sessions contain "an approximation of what was intended to be the completed SMiLE album, compiled from the Beach Boys’ original session masters," according to a press release, plus bonus tracks, demos, and stereo mixes. The SMiLE Sessions box set consists of five CDs, two LPs, two 7"s, a 60-page book, and "three-dimensional shadowbox lid." The SMiLE Sessions artwork is based on the sleeve and booklet art Frank Holmes made for the original, shelved album.

There will also be a lot of other merchandise and memorabilia available surrounding this release such as limited edition SMiLE t-shirts, autographed lithographs, and super deluxe autographed versions of the box set that come with "light-up SMiLE Shop window" artwork and even "a custom-made SMiLE surfboard by Hobie.
