Beck has been a busy man these last few years. His tastes have ran the gambit from from producing albums such as Charlotte Gainsbourg's IRM, Thurston Moore's Demolished Thoughts, and Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks' forthcoming Mirror Traffic to recording song for song covers of classic albums as part of his Record Club and everything in-between.
With that in mind it shouldn't come as a surprise to hear that Beck is working with someone out of his normal range on a new project. A recent blog from The LA Times about Country musician and actor Dwight Yoakam's move back to a major lab shed light on the interesting fact that Yoakam and Beck have already recorded a few tracks. It will be interesting to hear how much toward country these tracks skew as Beck has used country rhythms and steel guitars in the past.
