Black Keys To Drop New LP in 2011

Last May, Ohio blues-rockers the Black Keys released Brothers, an album that from little known to world wide superstars. Spin reports that they're not wasting any time in making the follow-up. The band has already finished recording their next album in singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach's Nashville studio, and they plan to release it later this year.

Talking to Spin about the as-yet-untitled LP, Auerbach says, "It's the fastest we've ever played. The new album doesn't sound like Brothers. It doesn't have that open soul feel to it. It's way more driving and the tempos are really fast."

For this album, the band once again teamed with producer Danger Mouse, who helped produce their last two albums. Talking about Danger Mouse, Auerbach says, "He understands all the different kinds of music we're into. He's got really great ideas about melody and song structure. For him, it's all about the song."

Songs on the next LP include opener "Lonely Boy", which Auerbach calls "pretty raw," and "Little Black Submarine", of which Auerbach says, "It starts with just acoustic guitar and vocals, and by the end it sounds like Black Sabbath!"
