Word on the streets is the Gorillaz have returned back home to Kong Studios to start laying down their third Gorillaz album. Following the opera collaboration, Monkey: Journey to the West, Damon Albarn & Jamie Hewlett are at it again. An interview in late '08 confirmed that their work on Monkey got them jonesin to throw down with a third Gorillaz album. They've already put in work on the album and Albarn said that he wants "to work with an incredibly eclectic, surprising cast of people" on this joint.
Recently, Albarn made an appearance as a guest DJ on BBC Radio 1, premiering demos of three new Gorillaz songs, which are entitled "Electric Shock", "Broken" and "Stylo" He confirmed the tracks were incomplete by saying: "I keep changing - it's not finished by any means," nonetheless, there is a buzz about album tre. Albarn went onto say that the still untitled, third album should be a departure from the first two albums (2001's Gorillaz and 2005's Demon Days) with fewer vocals and the influence of Albarn's Africa Express work heavily evident.
Thighs Wide Shut is streaming the three new tracks.
