1991 saw a number of classic albums being released but it can be argued that none have had the lasting cultural influence that Nirvana's Nevermind has enjoyed. To celebrate Nevermind's 20th anniversary a number of musicians including Krist Novoselic will get together to perform the album live.
Krist Novoselic was the bass player for Nirvana's entire career and has been MIA from the music world most of the time since the 1994 suicide of lead singer Kurt Cobain. That absence is what makes Novoselic's participation in this event so noteworthy. While Nvoselic will not be playing the entire show he will join a rotating cast of musicians such as the Fastbacks, the Long Winters, Vaporland, Visqueen, Campfire OK, Valis (featuring former members of Screaming Trees), Ravenna Woods, and others.
This concert will take place on September 20 at the Sky Church at the Experience Music Project in Seattle and not only serve as a tribute to the still hot Nirvana album but also as a benefit for Seattle music industry figure Susie Tennant, who's suffering from cancer. No other Nirvana members are expected to attend.
