Life Size Gundam Towers Over Tokyo

Life Size Gundam

We all know that the Japanese make dope products that can fit in even the smallest of pockets, but this 59 foot tall scale replica of Gundam is evidence that they can create monstrously big as well as uselessly small.

For those who are not aware; Mobile Suit Gundam is a Japanese animation program created by Sunrise Studios about giant robots that first aired in 1979 and has since spawned numerous spinoffs and offshoots. Gundam is so popular in Japan that it has actually spawned a legitimate academic research institution known as The International Gundam Society.

In Celebration of Gundam's 30th anniversary (and probably to raise hype for future Gundam releases), Sunrise Studios has recently completed a 1:1 scaled Gundam statue in Shiokaze Park in Tokyo. This massive 59 foot statue is called Real-G and as of now has a moving head; although it's not currently known whether there will be any other parts made to move in the near future or if this thing is equipped to take on a Godzilla attack.

I guess it's time for America to get crackin' on our gigantic GI Joe?
